The Benefits of Eating Shrimp
Since there are about 30 calories in 4 shrimp, this is a perfect food for those who are watching their calorie intake.
Shrimp are full of omega-3 fatty acids which can help reduce heart disease. They also provide iodine, magnesium and zinc which benefits our immune system, blood pressure and bone health,
But I think the best benefits of eating shrimp is that it tastes good and is so easy and quick to cook.
What is Chili Lime Seasoning?
Chili Lime Seasoning or Tajin is a spice blend made with chili peppers, salt and dehydrated lime juice. It’s not too spicy but it is full of flavor. You can find this seasoning in the aisle with the spice aisle or where they sell Latin foods.
What is Pico de Gallo?
Pico de Gallo (or Salsa Fresca) is a fresh (not cooked) salsa that you see in many Hispanic dishes. While most salsas are cooked or blended, pico de gallo uses raw herbs and vegetables.
Pico de Gallo is low in calories and fat and full of flavor, the perfect condiment for my Chili Lime Shrimp Tacos.

Mama Fawn’s Tips. . .
- Using the freshest ingredients for this recipe will make the best tacos.
- I get my shrimp at the seafood department in my grocery store already deveined so all I have to do is peel and de-tail them.
- Do not over cook the shrimp or you will have a very chewy shrimp.
- You can find the brand name of the Chili Lime Seasoning (Tajin) in the spice aisle OR the Latin/Mexican food aisle.
- I use homemade corn tortillas for this recipe which are super easy to make (but sometimes time consuming). If you are using store bought corn tortillas, microwave them on a plate covered in plastic for about a minute or until they are flexible.
- Don’t care for corn tortillas? Flour tortillas are just as good.
- Except for the tomatoes in the pico de gallo, I like to mince the rest of the vegetables and the cilantro.
- Chill the Creamy Avocado Sauce until ready to serve.
- Serve the Chili Lime Shrimp Tacos with my Salsa Rice for a complete meal.
