Cheeseburger Bowls are the perfect way to have my guilty pleasure and not have all the mess.
One of my guilty pleasures in life is a nice, juicy cheeseburger. Of course, because this guilty pleasure is not the healthiest of foods, I do not eat it too often. But I sure do enjoy it, when I do. Also, making cheeseburgers can be a mess to make if you are not grilling them. Living in South Florida, grilling gets to be just too hot most of the year. But have no worries, Cheeseburger Bowls is the perfect way to have my guilty pleasure and not have all the mess.
At first, I thought I was going to call this dish “Deconstructed Cheeseburger” but Bowls are the big rage right now and “Deconstructed Cheeseburger” sounds like I may have dropped the burger on the floor and that’s just gross.
There are so many levels to Cheeseburger Bowls.
First of all, the homemade brioche croutons are to d i e for. As anyone who knows me, I LOVE salads but I hardly ever eat croutons. First of all, it’s added calories from something I don’t usually care for and usually they taste stale to me. (I know, I’m kind of weird 😉 ). These brioche croutons are toasty but soft and although there is a little salt on them, it’s the perfect seasoning. I used brioche hamburger buns because they were on sale, but feel free to use a brioche loaf.
Second level or flavor is the homemade dressing. It is the perfect addition to this bowl because it brings the whole cheeseburger thing together and is so easy to make. Definitely can use this dressing on an actual burger if you wanted.
Lastly, the beef is just lightly seasoned enough to add to the bowl but not overpower it. Not a fan of ground beef? Use bison, turkey, or ground chicken.
What is really cool about Cheeseburger Bowls is that you can make it your own. Add any toppings that you desire to make the perfect Cheeseburger Bowl for you.
Mama Fawn’ Tips…
- If not a fan of ground beef, feel free to use ground turkey, chicken or even bison. Whatever is your favorite ‘burger’.
- Drain the meat, if needed. You don’t want a greasy bowl.
- I cook my onions with the meat to give it extra flavor but if you are a fan of raw onion on your burger, feel free to omit the cooked onions and add raw onions as one of your toppings.
- Feel free to substitute any of the toppings you would desire for your bowl.
- I love mushrooms and I think sauteed mushrooms would be amazing with this bowl.
- Add your favorite cheese, it just happens my favorite is cheddar.
- I use iceberg lettuce in this bowl but you can add any type of lettuce you prefer.
- If you are not a fan of pickles, you can definitely omit them from the dressing.
