Sweet & Heat Wings

Sweet & Heat Wings

Do not forsake wisdom, and she will protect you; and love her, and she will watch over you. . .” Proverbs 4:6

Sweet & Heat Wings are the perfect appetizer to serve at your next Big Game get together or just something to snack on when watching your favorite team play.

Not only are Sweet & Heat Wings absolutely delicious but also quite easy to make and since they are baked and not fried, they are (hopefully) a little healthier for you and the cleanup is a cinch.

Anyone who knows me, knows I do not like sweet and savory foods together but I really do like these wings.  The sweet isn’t too sweet and the heat is very subtle.  I think the combination is the perfect balance. I usually like a creamy dipping sauce with my wings but I think the extra sauce is the perfect accompaniment to these wings.

Give Sweet & Heat Wings a try the next time you’re in the mood for a snack.

Mama Fawn’ Tips…

  •  Make sure you pat dry the wings before brushing on the sauce.
  • If you’d rather, you can put all the wings in a large bowl and toss some of the sauce over them before placing them on the lined baking sheet.
  • Feel free to use any hot sauce, but my favorite is Frank’s Hot Sauce.
  • Want to make a boneless wing?  Toss chicken nuggets with the sauce and bake as directed on package.

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs chicken wings (drumettes & flats)

  • 4 tbsp butter

  • ⅓ cup honey

  • ½ cup hot sauce

  • Pinch of salt

Directions

  • Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper. Place the wings on the lined baking sheet skin side down.
  • In a small saucepan, add the butter and melt over medium heat. Add the honey and hot sauce and mix well. Simmer for about 2-3 minutes. Pour half of the sauce in a small bowl and set aside for dipping. With the remaining sauce, brush each of the wings until fully covered. Flip the wings and brush with more sauce.
  • Bake the wings for 20 minutes then remove from the oven and brush more sauce on the wings. Bake for another 25 minutes. The wings are done when they are brown and crispy.
  • Serve with the remaining sauce and celery sticks. Enjoy!
