“The Spirit of God has made me; the breath of the Almighty gives me life. . .” Job 33:4
Pinwheel Sandwiches are a fun dish to add to a party or a get together to watch your favorite game. Not only are they easy to make but it’s the ultimate finger food. Put them on a platter and let everyone enjoy.
Of course, you can use any kind of filling for these Pinwheel Sandwiches but I gave you a couple of favorites. Not only are they light but they are tasty. A lot of Pinwheel Sandwiches are made with flour tortillas ( which are quite delicious and hearty). These Pinwheel Sandwiches are made with Lavash Bread which is a type of flatbread and they are quite a bit less in calories which is always a plus!
It’s important that you use a spreadable cheese as the foundation of these pinwheels or you will end up having a soggy mess and that is no bueno! Make sure you also spread the cheese evenly on the lavash flatbread. Like I say all the time, make your dishes your own. If you don’t like turkey, then use ham and so on and so on.
Give Pinwheel Sandwiches a try the next time you want to serve something new at your next sporting event.
Mama Fawn’s Tips…
- Make sure the spreadable cheese/cream cheese is soft before trying to spread it on the lavash flatbread or it will tear.
- I used Alouette Garlic & Herbs soft spreadable cheese for the Turkey Caesar Pinwheel. Feel free to use flavored cream cheese or even Boursin cheese if you prefer. I find this cheese in the specialty cheese department of my grocery store.
- When preparing the veggie pinwheel, it’s important that you allow the cucumber slices to drain for 5-10 minutes or you will have a soggy pinwheel.
- I use Joseph’s Lavash Bread found in my deli department.
- You will want to roll the pinwheels as tight as you can without breaking the flatbread. Don’t be concerned if they still look loose. They’ll stay together.
