Flatbread

Flatbread

“Anxiety weighs down the heart, but a kind word cheers it up. . . ” Proverbs 12:25

Making flatbread doesn’t have to be complicated.  With just a few ingredients, you can have this ready in no time.

Flatbread is quite versatile. You can use them as sandwiches (replacing them with pita), as a utensil (sopping up the most delicious sauce) or as I do quite a bit, make pizza. Add sauce, the toppings and cheese . . .absolutely delish!!!!

This Flatbread recipe is very easy but you do have to have a little time to make them. Mainly for letting them sit in 15 intervals.

Give these Flatbreads a try-they may look intimidating, but I assure you they are not in the least.

What you will need

Mama Fawn’s Tips. . .

  • Have all the ingredients measured and ready before you begin.
  • The dough is quite sticky when you begin to knead it so putting a little flour on your hands will help a little.
  • Do not put any oil in your skillet, it needs to be a dry skillet when you put the flatbread in to cook.
  • Keep an eye on the flatbread when you are cooking it. It can burn quite easily.
  • Butter the flatbread while it is still hot.

  • 2 cups greek plain yogurt

  • 2 ½ tsp baking soda

  • 2 eggs

  • 2 tsp salt

  • 5 tbsp olive oil

  • 3 ¼ cup + 2 tbsp flour

Directions

  • In a bowl, combine yogurt with baking soda and cover with a towel and set for 15 minutes.
  • In the same bowl, add the eggs, salt and olive oil and mix to combine. Add the flour and combine. Knead the dough a couple of times.
  • On a flour surface, transfer the dough and form into a ball. Sprinkle some flour on the top. Cover and let set for 15 minutes.
  • Divide the dough into 10 equal pieces and form each ball into a ball. Cover the dough and set for 15 minutes.
  • Take one ball and flatten it into a thin round and roll it with a rolling pin until it is about ¼ inch thick.
  • Heat a non-stick pan over medium heat. Once the skillet is hot, add the bread and cook for a couple of minutes on each side. Keep a watch on your bread to make sure it doesn’t get too dark. Remove flatbread from the pan and brush it with melted butter. Set flatbread aside. Enjoy!
