My husband loves breakfast but because of his work schedule he isn’t able to have it in the morning. But that doesn’t stop me from making it for dinner. French Toast is an easy but filling breakfast dinner. I usually serve it with eggs and a breakfast meat. And there is your complete meal.
As you see, you probably have most of these ingredients on hand except for the brioche. You can use regular sandwich bread but I think this brioche makes the French toast almost have a custardy center. Which I think is delish. I have used challah bread and it’s good and gives you a sturdier toast. If you do use challah bread it’s a good idea to let it soak a little longer so that the egg mixture can get through all the bread. I believe I ended up doubling this recipe also with the challah bread. You want to make sure your skillet is heated and the butter is sizzling. Once you dip the bread, make sure you shake off any excess egg mixture. It doesn’t take long for the toast to fry up to a golden brown so make sure you keep an eye on it. You’ll want to cook these into batches and keep warm covered in a 200 degree oven until ready to serve. Sprinkle it with the powdered sugar when you are ready to serve it and make sure you have plenty of syrup. Enjoy!!!
